Trusting the universe means surrendering to the flow of life and having faith that everything is happening exactly as it should. It means releasing control and letting go of the need to know what's coming next. When we trust the universe, we open ourselves up to the infinite possibilities that life has to offer, and we invite in the magic and mystery of the unknown.
Bernadette Logue
The word "surrender" can be a double-edged sword. It conjures images of peace and letting go, but also brings up fear of the unknown. This internal battle is something I've struggled with and have seen many other women struggle with.
We all desire to trust our inner knowing and a higher power, but doubt, worry, and the ego; love to get in the way. Life experiences, past hurts, and societal conditioning can leave us feeling wary and self-protective. But there is a path to inner peace and trusting your intuition.
The first step is building a safe space within yourself. Breathwork and inner child work are powerful tools for this. Imagine soothing your inner child and the parts of you that feel scared or neglected. By creating safety, you can begin to listen to your body's wisdom. During this stage, it's important to work with a practitioner who uses a trauma-informed approach to avoid overwhelming the nervous system.
Most of us ignore our body's signals, we were taught to push through discomfort and silence our intuition. Meditation and breathwork can help you build self-awareness and reconnect with these subtle messages. It might take practice, but the more you listen, the more in tune you'll become.
As your body awareness grows, so will your intuition. Spending time in nature can deepen this connection. Connecting with nature allows you to shed the constant mental chatter and reconnect with your primal senses. Feeling the sun warm your skin, the wind in your hair, the soft earth beneath your feet - these experiences activate a deeper awareness within you. This heightened sensory input strengthens the subtle signals your body transmits, allowing your intuition to emerge with greater clarity and power. Imagine nature as a giant tuning fork, vibrating at a frequency that resonates with your inner knowing. The more you expose yourself to this resonance, the more finely tuned your intuition becomes.
Let go of the need to control everything and embrace spontaneity. Starting small with tiny steps, like trying a new coffee shop or a different route home are stepping stones to trusting your gut feelings. These detours and adventures become the magic of life, waiting to be discovered as you loosen your grip and follow your intuition.
Synchronicities are your higher power’s way of giving you a thumbs up, a cosmic "you're on the right track" nudge. I recently experienced a powerful one that solidified the power of trusting my intuition. I felt goosebumps erupting as I read a brochure about a month-long training in Thailand. Excitement surged through my body with every word, painting a picture of an incredible, transformative experience. This was it. I knew. But then, the gremlins arrived. Doubt, fear, and a lengthy list of "what-ifs" flooded my mind. Feeling overwhelmed, I tucked the brochure away and promised to revisit it later.
Fast forward a few weeks. The Thailand training is now a distant memory, I mindlessly scrolled through Facebook memories for that day. A particular post caught my eye. It wasn't just any post – it was one I'd written years ago, declaring the very city where this training would take place as a bucket list item! Here's the kicker: At that time, I didn't even know the city's name and couldn't recall if the training took place in Thailand or somewhere else in Asia. But as I read that forgotten post, the memory of the training flashed back – and with it, that undeniable YES feeling. A deep, visceral knowing that resonated from my core, vibrating up with an undeniable truth: this was meant to be.
As you cultivate a sense of safety, deepen your self-awareness, and awaken your intuition, the journey of surrender unfolds. You're taking baby steps towards allowing your inner voice to guide you and watching for synchronicities – those magical moments that confirm you're on the right path. Throughout this process, expressing gratitude is key. By acknowledging the blessings, challenges, and lessons learned, you align more fully with your authentic self. So don't skip the crucial step of integrating gratitude practice into your daily routine, whether that be through journaling, prayer, or meditation.
And finally, forgiveness unlocks the deepest level of surrender. Resentment and anger act like energetic roadblocks, hindering our ability to fully let go and trust. By releasing these burdens, you clear the path to true surrender. Forgive yourself and others, not for their sake, but for your own. This act of letting go allows you to step fully into the present moment, open and receptive to the guidance of your inner wisdom.
Surrender isn't about blind leaps of faith, but rather cultivating a deep trust in your inner compass. It's a journey of self-discovery, and while fear may whisper doubts, the whispers of your intuition can roar much louder.
What has your journey to surrender been like? Are there any crucial steps I didn't mention here? Take a moment to reflect on a recent decision you made. Did you follow your intuition, or did fear hold you back? How can you begin to create a safe space within yourself to listen to your inner wisdom more clearly? She let go.
Without a thought or a word, she let go.
She let go of fear. She let go of the judgments.
She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.
She let go of the committee of indecision within her.
She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely,
without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.
There was no effort. There was no struggle.
